Mini-symposium ‘Optimisation & Simulation’ as part of the MATHMOD Conference 2025

At this year’s MATHMOD Conference, Martin Bicher, Niki Popper and Peiman Ghasemi (University of Vienna) organised the mini-symposium entitled ‘Novel Case-Studies for Simulation-Based Optimisation and Simheuristics’.

The MATHMOD Conference Vienna is an internationally renowned conference dealing with mathematical modelling, simulation and systems theory approaches. It is organised by the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) and takes place every three years. The conference brings together experts from science, research and industry to discuss current developments and innovative applications in the modelling of complex systems.

The dwh GmbH team was also represented with several contributions: A total of four scientific papers with dwh participation were presented. The titles of the papers are

  • Model-Based Optimisation of Outbreak Detection via Wastewater Probing

  • Disaggregating Train Delays into Primary and Secondary Components Using Gated Graph Convolutional Networks

  • A Green Markup for the Assessment of Optimized Circulation Plans

  • Challenges and the Need to Integrate Rolling Stock and Crew Scheduling for Efficient Railway Operations
